McKayla Walker is an a painter and illustrator residing in Cary, North Carolina. Following the path of surrealist artists, her work is found to be a natural response to the cultural and economic uplift brought upon by the Covid-19 pandemic. McKayla’s work is influenced by theories of psychoanalysis, exploring the subconscious and hidden memories to reveal a dream-like escape. Using elements of funky symbolism and bold brushstrokes, she intuitively to create an ever-unfolding work of art into a story.

With a background in non-profit arts organizations and marketing, McKayla finds inspiration through her community and working alongside artists from the Durham Art Guild, an organization dedicated to finding opportunities and engagement for artists. Her work offers transparency in the ways of development with formal elements and simple colors to spark conversation and inspire new methods to her audience.
